Setting a New Benchmark at Satellite 2020

ST Engineering iDirect at Satellite 2020

It was a subdued SATELLITE event this year for very obvious reasons, but nevertheless the show demonstrated the stoic nature of the community as many companies were still in attendance.

It was particularly important to ST Engineering this year as the show gave us a great platform to come out as a unified and fully integrated company. Our portfolio of products and solutions was on display to give our customers a great insight into our wide-ranging capabilities as a company. From the core, traditional satellite applications such as cellular backhaul and broadcast all the way through to emerging applications such as 5G and IoT, we are dedicated to addressing each sector’s requirements.

Some Exciting Announcements

We unveiled our ground-breaking Mx-DMA MRC (multi-resolution coding) technology at the show which builds on our well-established, award-winning Mx-DMA technology. Mx-DMA unites SCPC (single carrier per channel) efficiency and TDMA (time-division multiple access) scalability in an innovative way, adding ground-breaking new dimensions of adaptivity. Mx-DMA MRC will answer the market’s call for unprecedented service agility, extending the availability of Mx-DMA to very large networks and expanding the applicability and use of the technology to include a full spectrum of use cases.

We also introduced our new, cost-effective IoT Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solution which provides our service provider partners the ability to offer satellite-based connectivity for the industrial Internet of Things (IoT) market. Powered by hiSky‘s robust cloud-based solution with innovative small form-factor terminals, delivered in conjunction with iDirect and Newtec platforms, this highly scalable, geostationary-based (GEO) satellite solution supports flexible business models for immediate market access.

A Winning Streak

Award winning Satellite 2020During the show, ST Engineering received two prestigious industry awards from prominent industry associations.

We were named the ‘Company to Watch’ at the Mobile Satellite Users Association’s (MSUA) Satellite 2020 Mobility Awards in recognition of our leading mobility position and the solutions that we provide that empower our customers to deliver a broad range of services across all mobility segments. This recognition also extended to our vision and passion to facilitate seamless connectivity as new constellations, applications and markets emerge.

We were also presented with the World Teleport Association’s (WTA) 2020 Teleport Technology of the Year for the Newtec Dialog® platform which features a flexible licensing model and modular hub architecture that enables service providers to “pay-as-they-grow.” The panel was impressed with Dialog’s easy-to-upgrade capability, allowing service providers to add outbound carriers, return technologies, and throughput capabilities to address new opportunities and markets quickly and directly. The range of applications the platform addresses includes consumer and enterprise Very Small Aperture Terminals, government and defence, broadcast, aeronautical, land-mobile, maritime, cellular backhaul and trunking.

Insights Delivered

ST Engineering iDirect’s executives also featured prominently during the conference sessions at the event with Thomas Van den Driessche moderating WTA’s session on teleports and Big Data; Jo De Loor offering his perspective on Very High-Throughput Satellite systems and Andrew Faiola focusing on hybrid satellite-based solutions for maritime market profitability.
