  • Velocity® is specifically designed for satellite operators to deploy managed HTS architectures. It consists of three main differentiators; an ability to manage a single bandwidth pool across multi-spot beam capacity globally, mobility capabilities in a multi spot-beam environment and the support for carrier-grade reliability and resiliency.

Velocity® consists of operating software and leverages the intelligent or universal hub system portfolio and remote portfolio for maximum investment protection.

    • Intelligent or Universal Hub System – Flexible baseband and core hub system that provides satellite operators with a shared bandwidth platform spanning multiple satellites, bands, transponders and topologies
    • Pulse Network Management System – Manages highly complex, large-scale networks; run an efficient, reliable and high-quality operation; and continually improve customer satisfaction
    • Velocity Software – Deliver the latest features providing the most advanced IP routing capabilities, security and Global Bandwidth Management capabilities with unmatched flexibility
    • Modem portfolio – meets distinct end-user requirements and support a wide range of data speeds – from narrowband to high throughput rates. Our line of DVB-S2 modems feature multiple form factors, including desktops, rackmounts and modem boards

    Velocity Release Details

The latest Velocity release 3.5 and Pulse 2.9 introduces several exciting enhancements, including a nearly 40% increase in terminals supported without affecting performance, more virtual remotes per iNet for use cases requiring higher density terminals, fast and automatic transfer of iNets between RF gateways based on rain fade measurements, 3 new Group Service Plan service modes, new bandwidth allocation enhancements to support Group QoS allocation fairness, and satellite selection and switching accounting for look angle restrictions.

  • Flexible, Efficient Core Architecture

The hub system can connect to any frequency band on all satellite architectures. Velocity is built on DVB-S2 with ACM and Adaptive TDMA to allocate bandwidth efficiently over many VSAT terminals, while automatically adjusting to dynamic traffic demands and changing network conditions. The modular hub and line card system enables satellite operators to offer any business model, including VNO and managed service models.

    Global Bandwidth Management

Global Bandwidth Management enables operators to manage a single bandwidth pool to ensure a complexity of different SLAs and service offerings across a large coverage area spanning multiple spot beams. This includes a Group Quality of Service system, load balancing, scheduling, geoscope and a Fair Access Policy Scheme (FAP).

    Advanced Mobility

Advanced mobility features enable fast-moving remotes to automatically cross multiple spot beams within a short period of time, maintaining a constant IP session. These capabilities include: Automatic Beam Selection (ABS) technology features beam switching with no manual intervention across multiple satellite footprints to enable global connectivity. Other high-speed Communications on the Move (COTM) features include Doppler compensation, fast reacquisition after blockage and fast beam-switching as well as spread spectrum waveforms to support very small antennas on aircraft, maritime and land- based vehicles.

    Carrier Class Service Reliability

Supports full redundancy and rain diversity of the network infrastructure, as well as sophisticated QoS to ensure SLAs under any weather condition.

    Integration with Terrestrial Networks

Velocity mirrors the quality and reliability of terrestrial services, ensuring an enterprise-class user experience, and can operate seamlessly as part of an integrated global IP network. Layer 2 over Satellite (L2oS) provides protocol transparency through a Layer 2 architecture that offers seamless integration into an end-to-end network.
