VT iDirect to Launch iQ 200 Series, Delivering Unrivaled Performance for Enterprise, Cellular Backhaul and Maritime

Live testing of DVB-S2/S2X remote exceeds initial performance expectations

Herndon, VA, June 26, 2018 – VT iDirect, Inc. (iDirect), a company of Vision Technologies Systems, Inc. (VT Systems), today announced the launch of the groundbreaking iQ 200 Series, the latest in the company’s next-generation DVB-S2X iQ remote portfolio. The iQ 200 will be available in Rackmount and Board variants, with a full market release in the third quarter of 2018. This new remote brings an ultimate balance of speed, efficiency and affordability of satellite connectivity to maritime, cellular backhaul and enterprise customers. The iQ 200 exceeded expectations in live, over-the-air tests by early adopters, outperforming competitive products and reaching 200 Mbps aggregate throughput.

The iQ 200 Series is the ideal solution for Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) customers in maritime and enterprise markets looking for the often elusive combination of high performance and cost effectiveness. The remote will be a critical component in bringing greater connectivity onboard ferries, fishing and merchant vessels, such as small container ships and oil tankers, and will support the rapid growth of cellular backhaul, banking, education, energy, retail and Point-of-Sale networks.

The iQ 200 Series is compatible with both Evolution® and iDirect Velocity® and can operate in either DVB-S2 or DVB-S2X standards. The iQ 200 Rackmount is a one rack unit enclosure with high return channel capabilities that can be easily upgraded over the air to add greater throughput and features, depending on customer needs. This versatile remote will also support advanced mobility features such as beam switching with its console support for GPS data, and OpenAMIP®, an IP-based protocol that facilitates the exchange of information between an Antenna Controller Unit and a satellite router. The solution also features iDirect’s highly differentiated bandwidth management and prioritization technology to ensure terrestrial-grade link quality and Layer 2 over Satellite (L2oS) functionality to provide a transparent flexible access technology.

The iQ 200 combined with iDirect SatHaul® XE is specifically targeted at the cellular backhaul market. With speeds reaching 200 Mbps of aggregate throughput, the iDirect SatHaul XE provides a cost-effective, high-performance solution for 2G/3G/4G with an enhanced end-user experience.

“With the excellent results from our early adopter customer trials, the iQ 200 expands our portfolio of DVB-S2X capable remotes, which will enable our customers to open new doors into VSAT-ready markets,” said Toni Kousiafes, Vice President of Product Management, VT iDirect. “The iQ 200 is the perfect fit for entry-level and mid-range markets, and will be followed by the introduction of a high-end iQ series for enterprise and mobility, where we will push throughput rates to even greater levels.”
