- Bridging the digital divide has always been a primary task for governments in many countries. Here in Asia, two countries have been the most successful ones to create and implement the Universal Service Obligation projects: Indonesia and Malaysia. As the biggest users of satellite capacity, governments of both countries are becoming the “rising stars” in the market, bringing significant impact to the dynamics in the satellite industry in Asia. This case study will look into the success stories of government projects in Indonesia and Malaysia, and explore opportunities to expand such experience into other countries in the region.
