Flexible, Efficient Core Architecture
iDirect hub can connect to any frequency band on all satellite architectures. Velocity is built on DVB-S2 with ACM with Adaptive TDMA and multiple efficiency technologies to allocate bandwidth efficiently over distributed networks, while automatically adjusting to dynamic traffic demands and changing network conditions. The modular hub and line card system enables operators to operate across all business models, including VNO and managed service models and easily add new capabilities with over-the-air software upgrades.
Global Bandwidth Management
Global Bandwidth Management enables operators to manage a single bandwidth pool to ensure a customer’s complex SLAs across a large coverage area spanning multiple spot beams. This includes a Group Quality of Service (GQoS) system, load balancing, scheduling, geoscope and a Fair Access Policy Scheme (FAP). It provides Satellite Operators with the option of logically partitioning the satellite capacity spanning several beams for Virtual Network Operators (VNOs) through the creation of Group Service Plans.
Advanced Mobility
Advanced mobility features enable fast-moving remotes to automatically cross multiple spot beams within a short period of time, maintaining a constant IP session. These capabilities include: Automatic Beam Selection (ABS) technology features beam switching with no manual intervention across multiple satellite footprints to enable global connectivity. Another feature, called Spread Spectrum waveform, supports very small antennas on aircraft, maritime and land- based vehicles. High-speed Communications on the Move (COTM) features include Doppler compensation, fast reacquisition after blockage and fast beam-switching.
Carrier Class Service Reliability
Supports full redundancy and rain diversity of the network infrastructure, as well as sophisticated QoS to ensure SLAs under any weather condition by incorporating adaptive waveforms.
Integration with Terrestrial Networks
Velocity mirrors the quality and reliability of terrestrial services, ensuring an enterprise-class user experience, and can operate seamlessly as part of an integrated global IP network.
