Operators now boast the ability to go beyond backhaul – some saying they can provide 5G from space and even connect directly to smartphones. Do their ambitions to dominate last-mile service in rural and mobile markets put them on course to compete with terrestrial wireless carriers, or, does it transform them into potential partners to expand terrestrial networks through reseller agreements? This session aims to compare and contrast the performance, costs, and availability of modern satellite and terrestrial wireless services and explore whether increased convergence or competition is more likely between the two industries.
