Advanced iOM – iDX 4.X

The Advanced iDirect Operation & Maintenance (AiOM) training is a four-day advanced course focused on providing the attendants with the knowledge required to better understand iDirect networks from the hub-side perspective in order to perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting tasks efficiently over the iDirect teleport components.

  • Description

This training is part of a set of advanced courses: iDirect Quality of Service (iQoS) and iDirect Layer-2 /Layer-3 Configuration (iL2L3) classes.

This training is oriented towards personnel responsible for second and third level escalations on iDirect satellite products and networks, working exclusively on the Network Operation Center (NOC). The training satisfies requests from our customers and partners to provide a course covering more in-depth information/knowledge about the iDirect equipment not present in the iDirect Operation & Maintenance (iOM) course.

The course, a blended format of lectures, demonstrations and practical exercises, is presented in a clear and technical format. In addition to course material, each learner will obtain knowledge required to monitor the real-time status of the iDirect hub servers and components, perform system health checks, advanced backup recovery actions, observe automatic failover processes and accomplish advanced traffic troubleshooting tasks. The class will be conducted using iDX 4.1 software release exclusively. After completing all associated materials, lectures, practical exercises and learner knowledge assessments, a final written exam would be administered at the end of the four-day training session.

  • Prerequisite

The iDirect Operation and Maintenance (iOM) course is a prerequisite to attend the Advanced iDirect Operation & Maintenance (AiOM) training, as the topics covered in the introductory training will be the starting point. An iDirect network operation experience of at least 6 months and familiarity with the iVantage software suite is also required.

A basic user level knowledge of Linux operating system command line interface is advised, as this training will intensively involve accessing Linux based servers, line cards and remotes. In addition to that, the learner must be comfortable over a Windows operating system and have basic software installation skills, since the iVantage suite of applications, SSH and terminal software will be deployed on the laptops.

  • Laptop Requirements

Each registered student must bring a laptop computer running Windows XP/7/10, administrative privileges with the firewall temporarily disabled in order to install the following software during the week: iVantage, PuTTY, WinSCP, iPerf, udpblast, WireShark, MySQL Workbench, amongothers.

  • Course Outline

The preparation of this training material is focused, in its intent, to prepare each learner with the basic ability to perform essential job functions when they return to their company or organization.
