We were back in Washington DC last week for SATELLITE 2022 and what a week it was!
Without a doubt the highlight of the event were the customer meetings and interactions. It was fantastic to be back at a thriving, busy show with a buzzing booth and to see partners, customers, friends and colleagues face-to-face again. Though we are constantly in touch with our customers, to have the opportunity to build deeper relationships and enjoy each other’s company after the events of the last two years was incredibly important. It’s these conversations that enable us to address the needs of our customers and to make them successful.
Industry recognition – Twice over
We were incredibly proud and humbled to be presented with not one, but two awards this year.
With our longstanding partner, Marlink, we received the Maritime Mobile Innovation Award at the 30th Annual Mobile Satellite Users Association’s (MSUA) Satellite Mobile Innovation event. The award, given for the innovative Dialog platform and breakthrough MDM5010 modem that power Marlink’s Sealink VSAT service, our leading position in the maritime market was recognized. By deploying the Dialog platform’s mobility capabilities, Marlink provides ultra-high speeds and enhanced on-board experience to meet increasing digital demand across the mobility sectors. Today, the Sealink service is deployed on a variety of vessels including cruise ships, providing an optimal connectivity experience for crew and passengers alike.
We were also presented with the prestigious World Teleport Association’s (WTA) 2022 Teleport Technology of the Year award for our Mx-DMA MRC technology which brings forth the full scalability of TDMA return technologies to SCPC-like efficiency levels. Mx-DMA MRC has evolved from the award-winning Mx-DMA HRC (High Resolution Coding) technology and triple award-winning Dialog platform, offering unprecedented service agility while extending the availability of Mx-DMA to very large networks and lowering the total cost of ownership.

Panel participation
We were delighted to have been asked to join three panels at the show this year.
Darren Pralle, Senior Director of Product Management participated on our customer, DETASAD’s panel, Bandwidth as a Service: A New Revolution in AI powered Satellite Connectivity. Together with our partner Intelsat and representatives from Nokia, discussed how our iQ modem technology powered Detasad’s AI driven bandwidth-as-a-service solution.
Darren also participated on WTA’s panel session on Cloud Technology Service and Skills Requirements for Teleport Operators where he discussed our ambitions in the cloud. “We ultimately want to design an architecture that offers our customers maximum flexibility…our evolution and growth will continue in order to make it more flexible to deploy on a public or private cloud.”
Semir Hassanaly, our Head of Cellular Backhaul and Trunking, featured on the Breaking down Barriers with Standardized Solutions session. He noted that, as ground segment providers, it is critical that we adopt the standards that will allow us to participate in the wider ecosystem and that we need to turn to the technology enablers, standardization, virtualization and orchestration, to be successful. He noted: “Virtualization is key to enabling a fully digitalized ground network that can integrate within the telecom 5G fabric.”
