Hok Shuen (“Shuen”) Wong is senior vice president of engineering at VT iDirect and is responsible for charting the company’s current and strategic technologies, enabling the development of products and services for both the commercial and government markets. Bringing over 30 years of experience in mobile satellite communications, Wong plays a critical role in fulfilling the company’s growth vision through innovations and partnerships to advance the role of satellite technology as the industry becomes part of a much broader ecosystem.
Prior to joining VT iDirect, Wong was chief engineer at Inmarsat. Throughout his 28-year career at Inmarsat, Wong led several key programs, and is particularly acknowledged for his role in the implementation and delivery of large-scale, complex programs such as Inmarsat’s first global mobile broadband VSAT system (Global Xpress), first 3G network over satellite (BGAN) and first handheld satellite phone (IsatPhone Pro).
Prior to that, he was a systems engineer at British Telecom International (BTI).
Wong is the author of 3 U.S. patents and holds a Bachelor of Science in electronic and electrical engineering from the University of Surrey.
