Direct Technologies to Demonstrate Live System At Satellite 2004 Trade Show
New technology will improve the speed, quality and reliability of broadband satellite service

2.25.2004

RESTON, Va. - February 25, 2004 - iDirect Technologies, a privately held company that designs, develops, and markets the fastest, most reliable bi-directional satellite-based broadband access solutions, today announced that they will be demonstrating a live iDirect broadband IP via satellite connection at the Satellite 2004 trade show being held at the Washington, D.C. Convention Center from March 3rd through the 5th.

The iDirect Technologies hub and remote hardware and software equipment provides connectivity for IP based services such as data, voice and internet connectivity. This Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) network can provide data at speeds from 64 kbps to 4.2 Mbps from the remote site and up to 9 Mbps from the hub to the remotes. Each iDirect remote terminal includes a built-in router and is packaged with features such as link encryption, Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) acceleration, Domain Name Server (DNS) caching and Quality of Service (QoS) prioritization all in one box.

For the live demo, the hub will be located at the company's Reston, VA world headquarters and will be connected to a high-speed internet connection which will be fed to the trade show remote hardware at iDirect's booth via a dish located on the roof of the Convention Center.

" The current perception of broadband IP services via satellite is outdated," said John Kealey, president and CEO of iDirect Technologies. "We talk about the quality of service regularly but until someone has a first hand experience with the product they tend to retain outdated perceptions of latency, security and cost issues previously associated with older satellite technology. It is always an enlightening experience when someone places a live VoIP call via satellite and they realize that it performs just as well as a terrestrial call, or when they can transfer data at speeds often faster than they are used to with terrestrial services."

The live demo will be run throughout the show exhibit hours, March 3-5, within the iDirect Technologies booth number 721. Show attendees will be allowed access to experience the service directly or can receive a demonstration by one of the iDirect Technologies personnel. As well as experiencing broadband connectivity via satellite, attendees will be able to make Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) satellite calls directly from the iDirect exhibit.
